October was another fun month at the gym. Rachel had a bit of an unusually eventful month and unfortunately didn’t get to attend many of the classes she wanted to attend. It would seem that sometimes life gives you a bump in the road, or several all at once that can take you off course. Rachel is hoping to course correct and get back to her routine as soon as she is able.

Rachel did start the month off right with Coach Jess for Capture the Flag on October 1st. She and Steve teamed up for this class and successfully rowed over 5,000 meters together during the challenge. There was far more to it than rowing, but we will save the details. Just know that they crushed it, along with their follow gym friends that day.

She missed the next three events on the board but did get into the gym for the one-mile benchmark on the 16th. She has continued to struggle with a shin splint and some calf cramping on the left and wasn’t sure if she would be jogging or walking that day. After a good warm-up, she concluded it would be safe to jog.

Luckily, all went well, she felt no pain or discomfort, and she even managed to hit a new personal record of 8:14. It will be fun to see this benchmark come around again, as she can’t imagine being able to move any faster.

Rachel did sign up to participate in October’s Hell Week, which was a string of very challenging classes from the 24th through the 31st. If you signed up for the challenge, you were required to complete at least four of the classes to earn your t-shirt. Rachel only completed the four required, which is technically a success, and she got her shirt. Next year she hopes to complete a couple extra classes. She is one of those weird people that enjoys when things are tougher than normal in the gym and is always in a constant competition with herself.

What will November bring??? One never knows. Stay tuned to find out when she highlights November’s fun the first Monday in December. Until next time, be well.
